More Video - 8/20 LIS Meeting

I struggle with patience when TeacherTube is involved. It is soooooo slow within the district. When I finally get on, there's great stuff, but it's frustrational b/c of the time it takes to load, search, and play videos.

I love YouTube. I truly wish it were unblocked, but I do understand why it is unavailable. There's lots of crazy stuff on YouTube, much of it inappropriate for young eyes and ears. I am less familiar w/ Zamzar b/c I've never actually converted a YouTube to a Zamzar video, but I just played with it and converted a video which I will get later via email. :)

I have also made a MovieMaker file.

Here it is! Coolness! :)

Video Manipulation - 8/20 LIS Meeting

In this round, we played in Photo Story, which is a great free program that comes from Microsoft. Although it took a while to upload, here is my video that I created with pictures from my trip to Florida this summer.

I am so glad that it worked!!!

Audio Manipulation - 8/20 LIS Meeting

This was a bit more stressful than Image Manipulation b/c I have less familiarity, in general, with audio files and how to work with them.

I used audacity to record my voice, and then went to Incompetech and captured some royalty-free music. I then merged the 2 files and saved them as an mp3 file. As asked, I tried to upload the file to the Sandbox in our Wiki, but it didn't work. :)

Ah, well... good thing I wasn't in front of an entire class when this happened.

Good information here but not super successful.

Image Manipulation - 8/20 LIS Meeting

What a fabuloso Professional Development day. This rules.

Here is my pic with words from power point.

Here is a different pic (God-daughters and Me) from Big Huge Labs after being manipulated in the Warholizer.

Commenting

To those people who are playing 23 Things... you might see a few comments from me on your blog over the next few weeks.

I'm enjoying reading your "a-ha" moments on your blogs, and I would love to offer thoughts and words of encouragement, as I completed 23 Things in March. I have definitely been where you are, frustrations and all.

Good Luck, and Happy Playing!

:)

New blog

I love a new blog! It's so fun to pick a template and create a new place to write, read, comment, and use technology!

The purpose of this blog is to provide a place for me to think out loud, write a bit, and learn more about how to use technology in my library. It'll also be used as a way to comment to people participating in 23 Things, my district's summer professional development for employees.

The blog name comes from an actual occurrence in the library where I work. Consistently, over the past 4 years, I have had squirrels in my library. They live up in the 2nd story (I have a 2-story building w/ only a roof, no ceiling), we live down on the 1st floor. 2 years in a row, they have procreated and had little squirrel babies up in their area. It's completely adorable, a huge health hazard, and a total nuisance... but I love them! And so do the kids!

ETA: This blog replaces the 23 Things blog that I used to have. It was originally located at: http://librariantourguide.blogspot.com. I got a little too confident with my ability to use html code and I completely and accidentally destroyed my 23 things blog with faulty html comments. I didn't save the original template, and so the LibrarianTourGuide is no more. Oops! That's a testament for making sure to save the template, as they suggest for you to do.
